If you visit the state of Georgia in the United States you will experience a state full of the culture and history of the country. If you are someone looking for the southern experience then this is the state to visit. Famous people have lived here like Martin Luther King and it is also in this state where the movie Gone with the Wind was to have happened. This is a variety of places to go and activities to do in this state. There are state parks, and beaches, charming streets and other various forms of entertainment and activities to do. If you happen to visit Georgia, then you should not miss these great tourist sites.
The town of Blue Ridge is the center of art in this state. It has fondly been called the ‘Switzerland of the South’ because of the many arts and crafts galleries and live music performance you can enjoy. Wooded areas surround the small town which is ideal for hiking trail adventures, and if you love kayaking, you can also do this activity in the nearby Ocoee River.
Then there is a town on Pine Mountain which is adjacent to the Calloway Gardens resort where you can find beautiful gardens, lakes and golf courses. You can visit the locals in the town proper where you can get a taste of southern cuisine, antique shops and plenty of other local shops. In Calloway Gardens you can find many kinds of accommodations or nearby apartments in LaGrange, GA, which is the city next to this town.
You can also go to the sandy beaches and sand dunes of Tybee island, which is a few hours’ drive from Savannah. There are many water activities that you can enjoy here in this 22 square mile island, like sailing and fishing and you can also have many land activities as well. Or if you don’t want to do these activities you can simply enjoy the beach and watch the beautiful view from the island.
You can also have an adventure hiking trail through the Cohutta Mountains of Georgia, called the Panther Creek Trail. Along the way you can enjoy the sight of breath taking waterfalls flowing in multiple tiers to a singular pool of crisp, clear water below. This place is one of great peace and quiet and is a great place to do some quiet meditation while listening to the flow of water from the falls. You can spend the night camping near the falls with your friends with the many campsites on both sides of the falls.
If you love the Grand Canyon, then you will also love Georgia’s version which is the Providence Canyon located in Providence National park. It is a beautiful sight of rock formations in orange, red, purple and orange colors and is a very striking sight especially if you visit during the summer months. You can do rock climbing in these canyons.
